Global Youth Forum in Bali, Indonesia

4-6 December, 2012

Youth at the heart of rights and development!

Applications are now open to participate in the Global Youth Forum (GYF), a key youth event that will take place from 4-6th of December in Bali, Indonesia.

Led by young people for young people and co-hosted by UNFPA and the Indonesian government, the Conference will revolve around issues relevant to young people across the globe—specifically in the areas of staying healthy, getting an education, employment and livelihood, families and well-being  and inclusive civic participation—in an effort to link these concerns to the broader ICPD conversation.

We are proud to share that WAGGGS will be supporting the Global Youth Forum as a member of the Steering Committee!

APPLY and Spread the News!

While applicants under the age of 30 will be considered, young people between the ages of 18 and 24 are particularly encouraged to apply.

Forty-three percent of the world’s population is currently under 25 - and the number of young people is rising fastest in those parts of the world with the lowest economic growth.  What does that mean for education, families, jobs, health and sustainability? The ICPD Programme of Action made the needs of youth a priority and yet in all countries of the world, progress on youth issues is lagging.
Depsite their enormous stake in the future, youth voices have not been part of the mainstrean development debate. The Global Youth Forum aims to address this. Through a partnership of UN agencies, young people, civil society and the private sector the Forum aims to translate the participatory goals of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development into a sustainable youth advocacy movement.
