Sangam World Centre is proud to announce the launch of a four week Community Programme experience starting 22 September 2012.

During your four weeks as a Tare (this means ‘Star’ in Hindi), you will experience the sights and sounds of India and see preparation for Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. You will meet Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from all over the world and join in to celebrate Sangam’s 46th birthday. You will come home and live in the tranquil, beautiful and relaxing surroundings of Sangam while volunteering in the hectic, fast-paced and challenging environment of India.
For four days a week, you will volunteer with one of Sangam’s Community Partners. You will pack your lunch in a ‘tiffin,’ or Indian lunchbox, and head off in a rickshaw or local bus to get to your Community Partner. One day a week, you will be at Sangam to participate in activities such as Hindi lessons from a professional language teacher, cultural excursions, debriefing sessions, planning activities for your site and other educational activities like cross-cultural awareness – all to further your self-development.

“I have seen myself changing lives for the kids who are the future. During my stay here, I have also learnt a lot about Girl Guiding, empowering young women and building their esteem. I would like to spread the word all over the world to make it a better place for each one of us.” –Stacy, Kenya |
