Juliette Low Seminar 2012, Mexico

WAGGGS and Our Cabana will host a Juliette Low seminar (JLS) in Mexico from 12-17 November 2012. This seminar is a great way for young women to broaden their horizons through interacting with their peers from around the world whilst developing leadership and life skills which will prepare them for national and international responsibilities in Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting, in the wider community and in their personal and professional lives.

Objectives of the event:

This Juliette Low Seminar will look at leadership from a holistic view of women as leaders. It will explore our role as leaders and how this can grow and change at different stages of our lives. We will explore the challenges, questions and opportunities this may present for us and how we can use it to become more balanced, resilient and inspiring leaders. We will look at new themes such as making empowering choices in our work and personal lives as leaders, and empowering others to do the same and women as entrepreneurs; creating new ventures and opportunities in our communities.

By taking part in the Juliette Low Seminar, WAGGGS provides opportunities for young women; our future leaders to experience appreciate and learn from the richness and diversity of the international world that WAGGGS has to offer

The last Juliette Low Seminar in Kenya was a great success with 65 young women participating. This seminar was special as seventeen young women had the opportunity to be involved in community development projects addressing the Millennium Development Goals, (MDGs) through our partnership with Friends of Londiani (FOL) prior to the seminar. They were then able to bring their experience into the discussions.

I foresee great achievements from this year’s JLS alumni – we have been on the greatest safari in leadership, we dare to dream, and together we can change our world. (JLS participant from Denmark 2009)

It’s awesome; I wish all the young women from all over the world were here. The amount of experiences that we are all going through and learning is unbelievable...I can't wait for tomorrow’s adventure! (JLS 2008 participant from Kuwait)

The Juliette Low Seminar exploring leadership development is specially designed with young women participants in mind and we encourage as many young women as possible to take part.

All WAGGGS Member Organizations are being invited to send one participant.
