The Helen Storrow Seminar will take place from 17 to 24 April 2010 at Our Chalet World Centre. This WAGGGS Leadership Development Seminar (WLDP) will allow participants from all around the world to explore aspects of the five leadership modules:
- Personal development - Building on your strengths in order to release your potential
- Understanding leadership – Focuses on how we do things as much as what we do and explores how to be an effective leader in your volunteer and professional work
- Advocacy – Supports participants to raise awareness of the issues that face many girls and young women around th world and gives them the skills to influence decision makers
- Leading teams – Discover why team can achieve more than just a group, expand your knowledge and learn new skills to lead teams
- Communication – Strengthen your skills in cross cultural and international communication
Participants will develop a leadership project plan you can implement after the seminar in your home communities. They will also learn about WAGGGS and experience the unique setting of Our Chalet in the hearth of the beautiful Swiss Alps.
Who can apply
The programme focuses on developing:
- Current leaders within Member Organizations who want to contribute to their Association’s growth and development through application of core leadership skills and knowledge and motivate girls and young women by sharing their Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting experiences
- Potential leaders, particularly young women in the Movement who want to learn about leadership in a WAGGGS setting and about how to apply international leadership skills to make a difference to the world
Participants attending the seminar should have:
- A leading position in her Girl Guide or Girl Scout Association
- Been attending national leader training activities
- Knowledge about the leadership and organization structure in her own association
- Interest in personal development and leadership skills
The seminar will be conducted in English.
