Projects

Welcome to the WAGGGS projects section

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is involved in a variety of projects around the world. These are undertaken at either world, regional or national level. These projects provide another way for WAGGGS to work towards achieving its mission by actively involving girls and young women in areas where they can make a difference.

If you are part of a Member Organization and want to find out more about these projects, or you want to find out how Girl Guides and Girl Scouts are working to change the world, then the information you need will be posted in this section.

We set up projects in a wide range of areas from environmental concerns, health and working towards peace to international understanding. These are just a few examples. We also provide opportunities for Member Organizations to reach out across the world and link up with different countries in an exchange of skills and resources.

WAGGGS works with a wide range of NGOs and UN agencies on projects where recognised specialists are required. This allows us to influence decision making in issues affecting girls and young women.

The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association and WAGGGS have designed a new 'Olympia Badge' to celebrate that the Games of the XXIX Olympiad which will be held in Beijing in August 2008. Find out more about the Olympia Badge.

Our Rights, Our Responsibilities

Over the past three years, over 90 Member Organizations have been involved in projects which are linked to Our Rights, Our Responsibilities, our six year ‘triennial’ theme.

Working towards Peace

WAGGGS has been involved in several international projects which aim to promote and encourage peace around the world. The projects have ranged from working with refugees and organising peace seminars to establishing the “Building World Citizenship” programme.

Adolescent Health

Following our first global research study focusing on adolescent health, we created 7 key messages. For more information about the findings of our study, visit the Issues section.  On this page you will find information including what it takes to earn the AIDS Badge, a programme devised in partnership with UNAIDS and ICASO.

Leadership Development

WAGGGS has been developing girls and young women as leaders for almost 100 years. Leadership development in WAGGGS is about growing leaders to ensure that they realize their potential and have the necessary core competencies (skills, knowledge and experience) needed to carry out their responsibilities effectively.

We are currently developing the WAGGGS Leadership Development Programme which will provide resources for training events at an international level.

Project Search

This is an exciting new feature that enables you to access our database of projects that Member Organizations are doing around the world. There is the possibility to search by topic and by country. Member Organizations are also able to submit an update of their project here. Why not find out what other Member Organizations are working on in areas of particular interest to your organization? Click here to search.
