Together we can end extreme poverty and hunger
Today 1.02 billion people across the world are hungry and every day more than 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes - one child every five seconds. The problem is more acute for girls. Seven in every ten of the world’s hungry are girls and women and hunger reduces school attendance more for girls than for boys. Today, three fifths of the 115 million children who do not go to primary school are girls. Hungry girls start school later, if at all, learn less or do not finish, resulting in lower earnings and increased risk of future hunger.
Through its Hunger and Poverty campaign, WAGGGS, its Member Organizations and Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, are working towards alleviating extreme poverty and hunger and helping girls and young women around the world to break the poverty cycle. Join in and help save lives and futures today.
