"One hundred years of changing lives"
7 July 2008
The Centenary theme "girls worldwide say 100 years of changing lives" and logo (pictured right) were announced today to excited and eager delegates at the 33rd World Conference in the form of a short movie. Excitement filled the plenary as Plant – introduce, Grow – Expand and Share – pass on flashed across the screen. These themes set the tone, goals and challenges for the Member Organizations and WAGGGS to help the Movement towards achieving its goals.
Lots of planning, preparation and creativity went into the design and ideas for the Centenary celebrations. To complement the themes the main Centenary logo incorporates the colours of the five world regions, and a series of Centenary badges will be available.
“We think the logo is fantastic. All Member Organizations are very excited about implementing the activities that are planned,” explains Marilyn Factor, National staff of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines.
8 April
To add to the fun and activities a Celebration Day will take place on 8 April from 2010 to 2012 - the 100th day of the year and members are encouraged to address the centenary elements (party, good deed, 100 and international) in their celebrations. It is exciting to witness the growth and energy in WAGGGS as we look forward to the next 100 years!
