WAGGGS was featured in a special fundraising initiative, the BBC Radio 4 appeal. It was aired on Easter Sunday, 23 March, on BBC Radio 4 and on the following Thursday.
The appeal was presented by Baroness Betty Boothroyd, formerly the Speaker of the House of Commons, now a member of the House of Lords, UK Parliament.

Baroness Boothroyd talked about how Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting has changed over the years since she was a Brownie and focused on the important work WAGGGS is now undertaking, including the campaign to increase awareness and prevention of HIV and AIDS.
