Girls take action for World Environment Day

1 June 2012

For World Environment Day on 5 June, WAGGGS invites all Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to take environmental action and help us stage an environmental action march in Brazil on your behalf.

Environmental actionCelebrate World Environment Day by doing environmental activities from our World Thinking Day activity pack, and you’ll be adding steps to a Girl Guides and Girl Scouts environmental action march on 20 June in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The march is part of the WAGGGS delegation to the UN’s Rio+20 sustainability conference. It’s an important opportunity to make the world hear girls and young women’s opinions on the environment.

Email harriet@wagggs.org or go to our environmental activity map to report how many actions you completed.

We can save our planet

“We can save our planet” is the WAGGGS Global Action Theme message for 2012, and it was the focus of World Thinking Day in February. Visit the World Thinking Day website to learn more about this year’s theme and to see what other Girl Guides and Girl Scouts have done to help the environment.
