Youth delegates attend UN Commission on the Status of Women
29 February 2012
Eight youth delegates are currently attending the 56th United Nations (UN) Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York, USA to advocate for girls and young women on behalf of WAGGGS.
CSW is a functional commission of the UN that is dedicated exclusively to gender equality and the advancement of women.
Eight delegates representing all five WAGGGS Regions are now at CSW and are reporting back on their activities by posting daily updates on this website, and by tweeting at @WAGGGSdelegates.
Their activities at CSW will include the Young Women’s Caucus - a series of working group meetings focusing on policy discussion, advocacy action and networking with decision makers - and a panel discussion titled 'Violence Against Rural Women and Girls: Experiences and Solutions', on the different risks and challenges in responding to violence in rural areas. See the full CSW schedule.
