Pathways to leadership
22 April 2009
The seminar provided participants with the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, acquire a better awareness of their leadership roles within their association, and also identify their own leadership path using the methodology of the WLDP with its specific gender, inter-generational and inter-cultural perspectives.I have learned new ways of training and it has been very helpful for me. I will try to use this knowledge back in my country with some adaptation. The techniques and the programme were very good.
After the seminar the participants will continue to develop their own pathways to leadership with the support of the planning team.
The Europe Region WAGGGS is grateful to the Guide and Scout associations in Denmark for support from their project ‘Supporting Guiding and Scouting in Eastern and Central Europe’, which ensured that young women from Eastern and Central Europe could also participate in this event.
Maija Grosa from the Latvia Guide and Scout Association says: “I have learned leadership skills and very useful and practical methods. For example, on delegation to others and prioritization of tasks. There are not many people at the national organizations and they can be easily overloaded with work. If they delegate, the results can be more efficient.”
Florence Enemuo, from Nigeria Girl Guide Association describes her experience at the seminar: “It helped me to discover who I am, my potential, and also skills I didn’t know I have. The potential that is not used, is dead.
She adds: “The session on changing the world made me realize that the potential to do it is on our hands. I am the change.”
The seminar was organized jointly by the Europe Region WAGGGS and Pax Lodge and was the first WLDP event in the Europe Region. The next WAGGGS Leadership Development Programme seminar will take place in Lebanon from 3 to 9 July.
More information on leadership development can be found on the Projects section.

The WLDP is definitely another "feat" for WAGGGS. It has been tailored to suit our very own Association yet global, practical and encompassing in nature...I wish everyone could just have a taste of it. For those of us who have been part of it, may we try to cascade and share the insights and valuable contents, strategies and significance of it...

WAGGGS creating "Pathways to Leadership" is Great. Since it's 22nd April I wonder whether if Some thing has been done for Earth Day in WAGGGS.
I guess that's also a great way in creating leadership & raising awareness about changes in our environment.
Don't you think?
