Be part of the Junior 8 Summit!
31 March 2009
Running parallel to the G8, the J8 Summit will be held in Italy, in the first week of July. At the J8 Summit, a team of young people represents each of the G8 countries: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. An additional delegation of young people will represent other countries of the world, which are impacted by the decisions being discussed by world leaders.
The J8 competition is open to young people aged 14 to 17 from all over the world. Only teams of four may enter, and your team must include at least one male and one female.
The youngsters taking part in the J8 are chosen by the UNICEF National Committees in the G8 member countries. Check out the details of each of these countries. For non-G8 countries it is best to follow up your UNICEF National Committee directly. For information regarding your National Committees, please visit your country’s website.
How to apply
Before you enter the competition, you’ll need to research the topics and in your team, come up with some suggested solutions to these global issues. You can either apply with a written entry form, or you can make a video. Check the deadline for the competition on your country’s website.
