Ban smoking in public places

In the WAGGGS’ Adolescent Health Global Survey, 83 per cent of girls worldwide believe that smoking should be banned in all public places.

Girls and young women call the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to take a stand on smoking

The World Association and our Member Organizations should try to influence Governments and businesses at all levels, using these survey findings to bring in laws banning smoking in public places.

Experts agree that the only safe way to protect non-smokers from exposure to cigarette smoke is to eliminate this health hazard from public places, workplaces and the home. A smokefree area ensures a healthier environment, so everyone can socialise, relax, travel, shop and work free from second-hand smoke.
