WAGGGS' issues
Ever since young women joined the Boy Scout Rally at Crystal Palace in 1909 demanding a place for girls, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts have spoken out about issues which affect them. In 2005, we conducted a major survey on adolescent health among 6,000 girls and young women in 100 countries. The results of this survey were turned into seven key messages which WAGGGS is advocating on. WAGGGS supports its Member Organizations by providing position statements, advocacy guidelines and training programmes. WAGGGS has selected three key areas to speak out about:
How WAGGGS is advocating on behalf of 10 Million girls and young women
WAGGGS has had a voice at the UN for 60 years. Volunteer UN teams are strategically placed in six UN cities. These teams work closely with the UN and its programmes and agencies, for example ECOSOC, UNICEF,FAO und UNESCO. At the regional level, WAGGGS cooperates for example with the European Union and the African Union. Read more about WAGGGS work at the UN.
