Our Voice

WAGGGS’ Vision is to be the voice of girls and young women to build a better world. This is what advocacy is about. Advocacy is about speaking out to influence others and bring about positive change.
Several definitions of advocacy exist already. This is WAGGGS’ definition of advocacy. Whatever the issue, advocacy for the World Association always includes speaking, doing and educating.
We aim not only to speak out on behalf of girls and young women everywhere, but also to empower young women to speak out for themselves.

WAGGGS Advocacy toolkit

The toolkit is designed to enable Member Organizations, leaders and groups or troops to introduce or develop the role of advocacy in your Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting programmes and to help influence decision-makers to improve the lives of girls and young women.

The new Toolkit on Advocacy has been produced with the support of the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe.

You can also download an electronic copy in English, French or Spanish from the Europe Region website.

Happy Thinking Day!!!
Water is really important to our world and we need to conserve it.
There are many ways that we can conserve it like taking shorter showers. It is really cool to be able to communicate and read other people's thoughts on this handy dandy website!!!! I LOVE GIRL SCOUTING!!!!!!
BYE Everybody!!!!!!!

Jeannie 26 February 2008 - 10.46PM (GMT)

HAPPY WORLD THINKING DAY! Here are some helpful hints to help us all conserve water: take shorter showers, use less water when you wash your hands, and turn off water when not using it

Megan 26 February 2008 - 10.45PM (GMT)

Hello this years Thinking Day is great. It's teaching us how to save water and help people around the world. Some people can't always have a drink of water when they want it. Fortuately we can. So there is a lot of ways we should try to concerve water.Bye!

I think this was the best Thinking Day.

Awesome. I love WAGGGS.org. It has so many tips from other girls that do Girl Scouts in America. I am so surprised of all the things on water for World Thinking Day. I am so surprised on how much water I use when I brush my teeth, take a shower or bath.

Ashley B 26 February 2008 - 10.45PM (GMT)

Hello did you know that you use 7-12 litres per minute when you brush you teeth? Well Happy Thinking Day!!!!!!

Gillian 26 February 2008 - 10.44PM (GMT)

Happy Thinking Day! Hope you learn good tips on water, for example dont use so much water when you brush your teeth.

mary claire o. 26 February 2008 - 10.44PM (GMT)

hi my name is ,mary claire o'malley. i would like to share some tips on how to save water.
1. if you turn of the water while brushing your teeth you save 3 gallons of water a day.
2. take shorter showers
3. when you wash your face fill the sink weith water instead of keeping the water running.

Maggs 26 February 2008 - 10.43PM (GMT)

Remember Girl Scouts,
Take quick showers
brush your teeth quick
and know how lucky you are to have clean water everyday and to be a girl scout!

brianna 26 February 2008 - 10.43PM (GMT)

I love this web site! It taught me a lot about saving water. I now know more than I ever did about water. The thing that amazed me the most was that Egypt was one of the countries that have the most water. I always thought Egypt was a dry environment with scarce, amounts of water. A few tips I recommend are...try to turn off the water when you brush your teeth, try taking shorter showers, and only use water when absoluty necessary. Following these tips are sure to help you save water, not only for your family but the people around you.

Clarice Swanson 26 February 2008 - 10.42PM (GMT)

World thinking day is about conserving water. If girls could take shorter showers we could help conserve water. We could also help by shuting of running water.Think about this and have a great thinking day!

Christinerine 26 February 2008 - 10.42PM (GMT)

Happy Thinking Day.... wanted to celebrate this momentus occasion to all girl scouts and girl guides of the world. Water is an important part of every persons life, and we need to use it where it counts, and we should always, when using water... conserve it in all ways possible. So remember bottled water comes from the tap!!! It's nothing special, so save the plastic, and turn on the faucet... but dont turn it on too long!!!

I am a girl scout from the United States. I am in Juniors and I love it. We get to serve our community and to go on alot of fun trips. I don't know much about Wagggs, but I think it's cool how girls can have such a big part in saving the world!

SARA BLEU 26 February 2008 - 10.39PM (GMT)

HI FROM AMERICA!!! I LIVE IN CHICAGO AND AM WORKING ON MY SILVER AWARD. WE ARE DOING A THING ON "GOING GREEN"... I FOUND OUT THAT WATER NEEDS TO BE CONSERVED AND PROTECTED OR WE MIGHT NOT HAVE CLEAN WATER MUCH LONGER. ALSO MANY PEOPLE ARE ALREADY SUFFERING FROM LACK OF CLEAN WATER. I HOPE PEOPLE START ACTING TO CONSERVE OUR RESOURCES TOO.

Rachel Jonas 26 February 2008 - 10.39PM (GMT)

I learned some interesting facts about water. But it's sad to realize that some people aren't as fortunate to have as much water as we have. I just found out today that everytime I take a shower I waste water. Man I have to take shorter showers. lols. Well enjoy World Thinking Day!!!!!!

Hi, my name is Samantha, I am a 10 year old, Junior scout in the USA. I am working on the Girl Scouting Around the World badge and that is what brought me to this site. I think it is great that I have this chance to speak to other girls around the world and I plan on telling my troop all about WAGGGS at our next meeting. Keep on Scouting!

Barbara 15 February 2008 - 7.20PM (GMT)

I have been a leader in Girl Scouts USA for 7 years and enjoyed greatly. My daughter is a Cadette Scout and working on her Silver Award which required completion of a 40 hr project involving the community not just scouts. I have seen her develop from a lonely girl with few friends to a leader among girls, eager to help others. She especially enjoys working with the younger groups to earn their badges and awards. I hope to send her on an international trip to visit at least one of the WAGGGS sites by the time she graduates from high school. Girl Scouts is the best organization for girls and women in the world.
