Girls worldwide Walk the World
‘Fight Hunger: Walk the World’ is an initiative organised by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and its partners. Through the global action day on 13 May, Walk the World will raise awareness about the 400 million hungry children in this world. This call will urge policy-makers and governments – whether in rich or poor countries – to focus more funds and resources on feeding children.
We will only be able to rise to the challenge of ending child hunger by 2015 if everybody joins forces. The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) is one of the global partners for the initiative. As part of WAGGGS every Girl Guide and Girl Scout has a role to play.
Anyone can organize a walk. Even if you don’t want to organise a big walk for thousands, you can have a small walk with family, friends, other Girl Guides and Girl Scouts or colleagues. Or you can walk alone.
What you can do
There are many opportunities to help fight child hunger.
Join a Walk near you
Have a look at the World Map and find out where the closest walk is for you to join. Register on-line for the walk and you can find out about others who will be walking and have an online-chat with them. There will even be a virtual walk. In Second Life, an interactive computer game that creates a virtual world, players will join Walk the World on-line.
Start your own Walk
If there is no Walk close enough to you, do your own Walk. Register with Walk the World and create a Walk on the online walk organiser now! And please tell your friends to join us too! Don’t forget to use t-shirts, banners, posters, etc to show people why you are walking: to end child hunger by 2015. You can download a walk planning Guide in English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Portuguese.

I think this is a really good idea and I just might do it for my Baden-Powell Challenge.
