Global Action Days
The United Nations (UN) has dedicated a set of days, weeks and years to help focus on important topics in which the organization has interest and commitment. You can find a list of all international UN days on this calendar. The international days occur every year on the same date and are often themed. For example the International Youth Day 2006 was themed 'Tackling Poverty Together: Young People and the Eradication of Poverty'.
As well as the UN days there are other international days, weeks, months and even years organized by alliances and coalitions to raise awareness and call for action on topics of worldwide importance. For example the UK-led campaign “MakePovertyHistory2005” was an international year of action against poverty.
