World Thinking Day 2008

The theme for 2008 is ‘Think about water’, focusing on water’s importance to health and on the issues of access to clean water and water conservation.

The World Thinking Day website has been updated with all the information you will need to prepare activities for younger and older members and to explore the issue of water.

The activities, downloadable from the website, are divided into three sub themes:

  • Provide access to clean water
  • Drink water for health
  • Conserve water for the world

If you would like to help grow Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting then take part in World Thinking Day!

History

World Thinking Day is the joint birthday of Lord Baden-Powell the founder of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting and his wife Olave who was the World Chief Guide. World Thinking Day gives Girl Guides and Girl Scouts the world over the chance to reflect and show camaraderie with their sisters in far flung places.

For over 50 years World Thinking Day has also been a fundraising event for WAGGGS. The money we get from World Thinking Day is used to grow the Girl Guide/Girl Scout Movement across the world. With 144 current members and another 30 working towards membership this fund is vital.
