WAGGGS at the AIDS Conference

3 August 2008- 8 August 2008

WAGGGS is promoting its new HIV and AIDS Training Toolkit at the XVII International AIDS Conference held in Mexico City from 3 to 8 August.
Five young WAGGGS representatives will join the First Lady of Mexico, Margarita Zavala, WAGGGS Chief Executive Mary Mc Phail, Western Hemisphere Chairman, María Elena Murillo and other WAGGGS staff members to promote the new AIDS toolkit at the event on 4 August.

The toolkit, which will provide Member Organizations with training support for leaders and trainers, aims to help girls and young women increase their knowledge of HIV and AIDS to protect themselves and reduce infection rates.

WAGGGS also will make their mark with an NGO booth set in the global village that will be accessible to the public during the whole conference which runs from 3 to 8 August.

The toolkit was launched at the 33rd World Conference in Johannesburg in July and was very well received by delegates there.
