Climate song is heard all over the world

Details about the YoFuGe Action

This song was first sung by youth at a Climate Change conference in Canada in 2005, and was performed by youth, including the WAGGGS delegation, at the 2009 climate change conference in Denmark.

The action song is easy to learn, so please follow the short instructional video:

The three-minute video includes introductions from WAGGGGS delegates at COP16 in both English and Spanish. You will see each delegate telling her member organization to “Think globally. Act locally.” Next, three delegates perform the action song slowly.  We encourage you to replay this section to learn the action song.  Next you will see the action song performed by the WAGGGS delegation at full speed-it is GREAT FUN!

Climate Action Song Lyrics

Ooo. It’s hot in here!

There’s too much carbon in the atmosphere.

Stand up!

Take action. Take action.

And get some satisfaction.

Take action. Take action.

And get some satisfaction.

 (Repeat song again.)

No more delay! (repeat)

Climate justice today! (repeat)

Let us know about your action!

If we don't deal with climate change there will be no planet for the next generation of girl guides! We need to do more than sing a song (although that is a great start). Why not pledge to personally DO something small and easy today? For example switch off or unplug your mobile charger, computer or the TV when not in use; or turn off lights not in use in the house, or WALK to the shop or get off the bus one stop early and walk.
Just a few ideas. Remember, think globally, act locally.
