With ten million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from 145 countries across the world, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) is the largest voluntary movement dedicated to girls and young women in the world. |
Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting are open to all girls and young women whatever their religion, ethnic group or background. A Girl Guide or Girl Scout accepts the Promise and the Law based on spiritual values, personal development and commitment to helping others. |

|
In 1909 several girls demanded a place for girls at the Crystal Palace Boy Scout Rally. They were the very first advocates of the Movement - speaking out and challenging the norms and gender conventions of the time. To honour our history and to build for the future, WAGGGS will celebrate the centenary of the international Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Movement over three years, from 2010 to 2012. |
Through its Member Organizations and through working directly with girls and young women, WAGGGS delivers high quality non-formal educational programmes and international opportunities that provide girls and young women dynamic, flexible and values-based training in life skills, leadership and citizenship. |

Your expertise, skills, interests, life experience, and availability are needed! Without the commitment of the nearly 1.5 million volunteers around the world, Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting could not happen. |
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts works with many national, regional and international organizations and alliances to further its mission to enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential and become responsible citizens of the world. It has partnered with the United Nations for over 60 years.

Hey, I'm a cadette in California and I love being a girl scout. We do lots of fun stuff like camping at boardwalks and helping people. All the girls in my troop are close friends. I went to one hundred , fun hundred Celebrating the 100th annaversary and it was amazing. I love being a girl scout and for girls who aren't a scout or a girl guide, I think you should become one. :D

‘Let Me Introduce Myself’ POSTCARD SWAP
The International Youth Arts Festival invites you and anyone between the ages of 5 and 26 years to take part in this year's international postcard swap: 'Let Me Introduce Myself’
Cut a piece of card to postcard size (15cm x 10.5cm) and be creative with any material you can think of be it oil paint, ink, dried pasta, buttons, pictures and introduce yourself to the world! You may also like to add some writing to your piece. Think about what represents you.
Your artwork will be exhibited at The Market House Gallery during this year’s International Youth Arts Festival, Kingston-upon-Thames 29th June- 6th July 2012 and also online at www.schoolswaps.net
After the exhibition you will receive a different postcard back (or a selection of cards if you send us more than one) from somewhere else around the world.
This project is a great opportunity to share something about yourself, your home, surroundings, personality and emotions with thousands of other young people. This is also a fantastic school or group project where students can work together.
For all the details and the postcards from last year's project go to www.schoolswaps.net
Send your postcard in an envelope enclosing your name and address on a separate piece of paper to:
IYAF c/o Arts Office • Guildhall 2 • Kingston upon Thames • Surrey • KT1 1EU
