About Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting

Canada fun.jpgWith ten million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from 145 countries across the world, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) is the largest voluntary movement dedicated to girls and young women in the world. Brownies Canada.jpgGirl Guiding and Girl Scouting are open to all girls and young women whatever their religion, ethnic group or background. A Girl Guide or Girl Scout accepts the Promise and the Law based on spiritual values, personal development and commitment to helping others.

Centenary 2010-2012

What we do

HIST-1963-002BIG.jpg In 1909 several girls demanded a place for girls at the Crystal Palace Boy Scout Rally. They were the very first advocates of the Movement - speaking out and challenging the norms and gender conventions of the time. To honour our history and to build for the future, WAGGGS celebrated the centenary of the international Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Movement over three years, from 2010 to 2012. JLS Kenya Brownies.jpgThrough its Member Organizations and through working directly with girls and young women, WAGGGS delivers high quality non-formal educational programmes and international opportunities that provide girls and young women dynamic, flexible and values-based training in life skills, leadership and citizenship.

Our partners

Costa-Rica.jpgYour expertise, skills, interests, life experience, and availability are needed! Without the commitment of the nearly 1.5 million volunteers around the world, Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting could not happen. ireland2.jpgThe World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts works with many national, regional and international organizations and alliances to further its mission to enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential and become responsible citizens of the world. It has partnered with the United Nations for over 60 years.

I,m a 26 years old girl guide from Namibia,i joined our team in 1994 when i was 8 years.I love guiding/scouting & the word BE PREPARED remain the best slogan of my life.

My guide and scout experience makes me live this world a little better & i experience that when i die,i will die with a happy feeling that i haven,t waste time but i have done the best.

I fell a little bit sad because the guiding and the scout movement in our country it is a little bit quite and i miss all my old girl guides and scouts friends.
