CIVICUS
CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation, is an international alliance of organizations dedicated to strengthening citizen participation and civil society worldwide. CIVICUS was established in 1993 to nurture the foundation, growth and protection of citizen action throughout the world, especially in areas where participatory democracy and citizens’ freedom of association are threatened. CIVICUS aims to contribute towards a healthy global society in which citizen intervention is a vital aspect of political, economic and cultural life and where citizen bodies are able to interact openly and legitimately with government and business. CIVICUS also strives for a balanced and equal relationship between society’s citizens and its business and governments
Lesley Bulman-Lever, WAGGGS Chief Executive, is a Director on the CIVICUS Board and Kumi Naidoo, Secretary General of CIVICUS was a key note speaker at the recent World Conference.
