Olave Award 2009-2011
The Olave Award is given to local Girl Guide or Girl Scout groups in recognition of outstanding community service projects, to honour the memory of the World Chief Guide, Olave Baden-Powell and to keep her belief in the spirit of service alive.
For the 2009 – 2011 Triennium the Olave Award was linked to the Global Action Theme (GAT), focusing on projects that addressed one or more of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
At the 34th World Conference in Edinburgh, ten groups from nine Member Organizations were presented with the Olave Award and eleven groups from nine Member Organizations with a certificate of recognition, demonstrating the dedication of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world to working on the GAT and making the world a better place.
The Olave Award winners for 2009 – 2011 are:

- Eltham Echidna Ranger Guides from Girl GuidesAustralia
- Peace Messengers,OsakaCouncil from Girl Scouts ofJapan
- Distrito Centro and Distrito Alebarán from Guías de México, A.C.
- Junior ‘Gumamela’ Troop No. 494 of South Cotabato Girl Scout Council from Girl Scouts of thePhilippines
- Girl Scouts- Dakota Horizons, Southwest District, Troop 72603 from Girl Scouts of the USA
- 3rd Nunthorpe Guides from Girlguiding UK
- Jeunes en Marche from the Association Des Guides Du Liban
A Certificate of Recognition was awarded to:
- The Solar Cooker Trainers from LesothoGirl Guides Association
- Rivers State Branch from the Nigerian Girl Guides Association
- Alyssa Junior Guides Troup from Scouts Tunisiens
- Le Comité Jeune from the Association Nationale des Guides de Guinée
- Third Ciceron Guide Company from the Girl Guide Association of Saint Lucia
- Development of Youth Efficiency to Strengthen the Community from the Girl Guides (Girl Scouts) Association of Thailand
- 1st Pitt Meadow Rangers, Lougheed Area, BC Council from Girl Guides of Canada- Guides du Canada
- Let’s Talk Charity Language Group from the KuwaitGirl Guides Association
- Fazilah Binti Muda (Pahang Branch), District of Kuala Lipis (Pahang Branch) and the Special Girl Guides of Bukit Harapin from Persatuan Pandu Puteri, Malaysia

I applause Sri Lanka Girl Guide Association's project from "Darkness to Light". Very inspiring. Also the project undertaken by Association Des Guides Du Liban is simply amazing. We Girl Guides here are grateful to you sisters for guiding us to reach out to our community.
