Young Women's World Forum 2010
More than just an occasion for discussion though, it is a chance for young women aged 18 to 25 to learn advocacy skills and to develop plans to bring about change in their community after the event. The event will also be a unique opportunity for members of WAGGGS to influence the future vision and direction of the organization.
The Forum is being organized by young women for young women. A variety of modern and innovative conference and seminar techniques are being explored to maximize the impact of the forum and ensure that the issues the delegates feel strongly about are acted upon.
Have your say!
We want you to help set the agenda for the event by taking part in a virtual survey which is now available online. Tell us which Millennium Development Goals are important to you and why. It will take only a few minutes to fill in. We will use the data gathered to develop the programme for the Young Women’s World Forum.
The survey will be open until 1 September 2009.
Delegates will be not just be expressing their own opinions but presenting those of their peers from their Member Organization. They will also be expected to initiate follow up projects on their return from the forum; ensuring that the scope and reach of the forum is truly global.
With a focus on the WAGGGS global action theme: girls worldwide say “together we can change our world” the Young Women’s World Forum is the beginning of a series of international events which aim to empower young women to make a difference to their world and influence the future of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting as we enter our second century. Representing their country at this historical event looks set to be a once in a life time experience for every young woman who attends.
Being on the team organizing the Young Women’s World Forum is an amazing experience which I feel privileged to be part of it. It’s such an ambitious project and I’m very excited about what it has the power to achieve – I think it’s so important for young women to come together and make sure our voices are heard. I’ve already learnt so much from my involvement in the forum and I can’t wait to meet everyone from around the world and build on that even more!
Who is the YWWF for?
All WAGGGS Member Organizations are being invited to send two delegates to the YWWF, who are:
- Young women aged 18-25 (at least 18 by 1 October 2010 and still under 26 years old on 31 October 2010).
- Active members of their organization, but do not need to have attended any previous WAGGGS events.
- Very good French, English or Spanish speakers in order to be able to contribute and benefit fully from the Forum.
- Committed to running projects or programmes as a follow-up to the Forum.
Young Women World Forums in 2011 and 2012
In 2011 the World Centres will continue with their version of the YWWF and in 2012 Girl Scouts of the USA aim to bring the series of YWWFs to a conclusion.
In 2010 WAGGGS’ five regions will celebrate their Regional Conferences and in 2011, Edinburgh will host the 34th World Conference. Further events will be announced.

Hi Sisters,
This is really a great opportunity for us to share. A world so huge, but made so small because we share so much. Let us make it even smaller over the next three years.
