Saturday - me and my world

Today’s theme was ’Me and My World’. We focussed on goals setting and thinking about what kind of project we could do for our organizations when we get home. We wrote an action plan and used the acronym SMART to make sure our objectives are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound. We shared our ideas with other participants and the planning team and gave each other feedback and suggestions.

We spent the latter part of the afternoon evaluating the seminar and our stay at Our Chalet.

Our closing ceremony is this evening and it is finally beginning to dawn on us that we are all heading home so soon. There will definately be lots of hugs, tears and laughs about our time here. We know we’ll stay in touch but will all miss the fantastically intense time we’ve shared.

Key learnings

  • how to take a critical look at our projects to make sure we are able to implement them within 12 months
  • interacting with other people broadens your horizens
  • listening to other people’s perspectives enables you to think critically about what you’re doing and planning
  • Rolling down the hill in half a metre of snow fills your trousers with snow! Likewise, if your pockets are open they will fill with snow too!

Dear Participants at the 2008 JLS at our chalet

The seminar is over and reading from your comments and daily updates, you have had a fantastic experience, a unique opportunity to discover, learn, make friends, growth...But the main thing is whay you will do with the experience back home...
I attended a JLS in 1983 and since then I have not stopped...

Best wishes
