Helen Storrow Seminar: Monday
We began the day with a reflection on the elements - air, water, earth and fire - and what they mean to our cultures. This got us thinking about "Operation Greener Planet", the theme for the seminar. We were then introduced to the history and structure of WAGGGS in order to gain a better understanding of how to work with the organization to achieve environmental and leadership goals.
Our next session was all about building trust and commitment. We were set the challenge of sitting on each others' laps in a circle and raising our right leg - it was harder than expected. This led to a discussion of trust and how we distribute trust in our everyday lives. After reinvigorating ourselves with lunch and an afternoon walk, we discussed the qualities that an ideal leader should have. This generated quite a debate, like do good leaders need to be experienced or not?
We finished the day by discussing environmental challenges and solutions in our different countries. Each participant shared her poster about climate change in her country. We learned about WAGGGS work toward environmental sustainability. An example is WAGGGS support to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals. We hope for another fantastic day of learning and sharing tomorrow!

Dear “GREEN” Leaders
It is a unique opportunity to plant the seeds of ”operation green planet” in Our Chalet, surrounded by the magnificence of mountains and the serenity of nature… you’re really privileged to be part of this operation; first of all because you made it to the chalet!!! In the middle of the transport turbulence and mainly because it is a unique experience to meet others, to learn and grow, to interact with a very special planning team and to be leaders in a variety of ways.
Enjoy every moment and keep us updated on the progress of your operation
Nadine
