WAGGGS and our partners have developed loads of activities, badges and project ideas to help you understand the facts about HIV AIDS, how you can help prevent it and how you can support those already living with the disease. 

AIDS Badge

The AIDS Badge supports girls and young women to work towards prevention, eliminating discrimination and providing care for those already living with HIV and AIDS. The badge was developed in conjunction with UNAIDS and the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO). Download the badge curriculum and buy the badge from our shop.

HIV and AIDS Training Toolkit

The HIV and AIDS Training Toolkit is a collation of best practice thinking about how girls and young women can help in the fight against HIV and AIDS. Member Organizations can use this training toolkit to equip leaders in their organization with the knowledge, experience and tools to support girls and young women in combating this disease. You can purchase this toolkit at our shop.

With the training toolkit, you can learn about projects carried out in Brazil, India, Kenya, Malawi and Peru. There are four training booklets, each with an introduction and ten activities   

Global Action Theme (GAT)

WAGGGS’ Global Action Theme (GAT) is girls worldwide say “together we can change our world,” which focuses on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The theme encourages girls, young women and members of all ages to make a personal commitment to change the world around them.

MDG 6 is Combat HIV and AIDS, Malaria and other diseases. Check out the “we can stop the spread of AIDS, malaria and other diseases” activities in the GAT badge curriculum. The 'Just say yes to talking about HIV and AIDS' pamphlet was published by UNICEF UK with support from WAGGGS as part of the Girlguiding UK ’changing the world’ campaign. Have a look at the activity packs for younger and older members.

World Thinking Day (WTD) 2009 activity pack

The theme for World Thinking Day in 2009 was girls worldwide say “stop the spread of HIV and AIDS, malaria and other diseases”

To support this event, WAGGGS prepared a pack full of activities on the subject. Although Thinking Day for the year might be over, this is still a useful reference tool. Also, check out what people did on WTD last year, it might give you some ideas for your own activities!
