Day 1 - 28 February

NGO reception

Today was set-aside for a full day of training for the WAGGGS delegates. We learned more about each other and discovered more about WAGGGS and its work with the UN.

We spent the afternoon taking a closer look at advocacy, learning different ways to advocate and how we can make a difference at CSW 2010.

Harriet Harman- CSW 54

In the evening, Lizzie Fricker, the young WAGGGS delegate from the UK met the UK Minister for Women and Equality, Harriet Harman, at an informal NGO reception on Sunday evening.

The Minister was very keen to meet up with UK NGOs during her visit in New York. She was for the first time present at the Commission on the Status of Women opening events on Monday 1st March.

Maria was also invited to meet with the Ecuador Mission to the United Nations.  Positive feedback came from this, as they are impressed by the work that Girl Guiding Ecuador is doing and have requested a further meeting for later in the week.

All girls are very tired after two full days of training but are having a blast!
