Day 4 by Sheila Waithera Wangui

Monday, 2 March 2009

The highlight of Monday was the Plan international side event ‘Because I am a girl in the shadow of war’. Nomusa from Canada and myself attended this event. I spoke about post-election violence in Kenya and many people came up and congratulated me at the end. Meanwhile, Vannessa and Misozi attended the Soroptimist International event, showcasing the organizations’ best practice on HIV and AIDS projects around the world.

In the morning we had to line up outside the UN headquarters in the snow and it was too cold for some of us who are not used to the harsh weather! Meanwhile, I join Miriam and Jennie to meet with the Kenyan mission.

In the evening all the young delegates got together in the hotel in order to prepare for the WAGGGS Breakfast tomorrow morning. We ended out day my filming our daily updates.

Shelia
it is great that we have young women like you present at this forum, who are willing and able to share their experiences of post election conflict and fly the flag for WAGGGS and we we can together support Young women's leadership skills!! Well done!!
