Day 2 by Vanessa Fiuza

Saturday 28 February 2009

The day started early because at 7:30am we had a meeting with the Soroptimist International delegation. The breakfast was a great way to get to know all the delegation better and share our ideas with them.

After that, Sheilla, Miriam and I went to the Advocacy in Practice (pictured right). In the training we talked about UN and CSW documents. Later we had a session about communications. This was very funny and interesting because the facilitators were very nice and made the sessions interactive. For example they did a pretend interview and we learned about how to use the media in the correct or how we should focus on what is really important and be short and concise.

In the afternoon Misozi, Sheilla and I had meetings to prepare for the Soroptimist presentation. At 8pm we got together again to review our agenda. We met Nomusa from Canada and Zahara from Pakistan. After we officially welcomed the new delegates by presenting them with a WAGGGS scarf, we reviewed some important points about what each one of us had to do over the coming days. We finished up by doing our daily video diary.
