Campaign action with 350.org

COP 16 Day 11 350 actionToday we joined in with a panel discussion at the beach organized by the 350 group, which is a global movement campaigning for the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. We sat at a table set in the water and there were five people on the panel, including myself. We addressed the audience, telling them about how climate change is affecting us in our respective countries.

Our message was: while the negotiators are busy taking part in discussions and not making concrete decisions, the sea levels are getting higher and higher and that is a threat to us as young people. We are the future leaders of this planet.

COP 16 Day 11 Vera There were a lot of people from the media listening to us. I was very inspired by the work done by the 350 group and I will follow their footsteps in implementing my own environmental projects back home in Zambia.

Vera Sitali, Zambia
