Monday 14 December

Today is our first day of week 2 at COP15 and things are changing a bit. We waited in line for one hour to get into the Bella Center. Fortunately we managed to get in early enough to attend the first YUNGO Gender group meeting. Since yesterday we have a group approved by YUNGO thanks to Bernadette who submitted it at the spokes council. We elaborated on strategies to influence other NGOs. We will also try to influence official delegations to put girls and young women into the text of the treaty that will be signed.

Later some of us attended a lunch meeting where we could discuss with other people on topics like reproductive rights and family planning. Prisca, Mirna, Speedy and Rima were interviewed by an independent film maker, talking about WAGGGS work and their own experience with the organization.

Today was also our first day of having non-formal education at the Klima Camp in town. The Danish scouts have organized a place on one of the main squares in town, where local Guide and Scout troops come and learn about climate change and the environment, and what they can do about it.

We also had a little bit of negotiation action in the afternoon, when we found out that the Swiss delegation was going to propose to add Youth and Women in some sections of the text. Then we tried to find as many as possible of our own national delegates and ask them to support this Swiss proposal. At least the US, German and Swedish delegations got the proposal, so we hope they listen to us!
